Input and conditions

Local file (optional)

Text uses UTF-8, including line endings. Files use their raw bytes.

No automatic copying or saving. Take care on shared devices and with clipboard contents.

How to use

Calculate the checksum of text or a file and confirm that the reference uses CRC-32/ISO-HDLC.

Other CRC32 variants can give different values. This detects accidental corruption; it is not protection against deliberate tampering or a password-storage method.

Examples

Principles and limits

Each input is limited to 1,048,576 bytes, output to 33,554,432 bytes, and processing to 5,000 ms. Input is never silently truncated.
