How to use

Identify whether the input is text or bytes, then set the conversion direction and source character set. Distinguish an encoding guess from an encoding confirmed by the file's specification.

Treat unrepresentable characters and invalid bytes as errors rather than silently replacing them. Do not assume that every Shift_JIS-related label has identical coverage; use the supported modes shown in the UI.

Principles and limits

Each input is limited to 1,048,576 bytes, output to 33,554,432 bytes, and processing to 5,000 ms. Input is never silently truncated.
