Is a family plan cheaper for your people and duration?

Tools to use

Suppose individual service costs 600 yen monthly and a family plan 15,000 yearly. Its 1,250 monthly equivalent looks cheaper for three people, but what if you stop after six months with no refund? Sum individual fees before entering the comparison and test 6, 12 and 13 months. These are fictional prices, not service recommendations.

Start with the whole household's monthly cost

Inputs for three users
Individual total: 600 × 3 = 1800 JPY / month
Family total: 15000 JPY / year

Calculate 600×3 first. Name the first candidate 'Three individual subscriptions', monthly 1,800, and the second 'Family annual', yearly 15,000. There is no automatic headcount field. Compare costs for the same three users, not one person's fee against the whole family's fee.

Check eligibility and capacity first: household, age, accounts and simultaneous-use rules can make a cheap plan unusable. The tool does not assess eligibility. A four-person plan cannot be modeled as covering five people under one fee.

For a full year, the family plan costs 6,600 yen less

Twelve-month comparison
Individual: 1800 × 12 = 21600 JPY
Family: 15000 × 1 = 15000 JPY
Difference: 6600 JPY

At 12 months, totals are 21,600 and 15,000 yen. Choose the individual candidate as the difference baseline. The 1,250 monthly equivalent is an average, not an actual monthly bill: the model prepays annual charges at the cycle start.

If individual rates differ, sum them instead of multiplying one rate: 600+600+300 is 1,500. Ignoring eligible discounts exaggerates family savings. This example also assumes everyone uses the service for the same duration; staggered departures need separate analysis.

At six and thirteen months, the ranking reverses

Totals at different durations
6 months: individual 10800 JPY / family 15000 JPY
13 months: individual 23400 JPY / family 30000 JPY

Stopping after six months leaves the annual payment at 15,000: unused months are not refunded. At thirteen months, renewal raises it to 30,000, above the individual 23,400. Cheaper at twelve months does not mean cheaper forever; inspect renewal boundaries.

Prorated entry or refunds change the model, so these totals are not definitive for such contracts. The calculation assumes unchanged recurring prices and does not handle cancellation deadlines or perform cancellation.

Try two, three and four people as separate scenarios

Two people cost 1,200 monthly or 14,400 yearly, 600 less than the family plan. Four cost 2,400 monthly or 28,800 yearly, assuming the family plan permits four. Adding nonusers on paper lowers a per-person average without making the household spend less.

Use additional candidates for alternative plans serving the same three people. Do not rank a two-person individual plan against a four-person requirement. When copying separate scenarios, include headcount; naming candidates 'three-person total' helps preserve context.

Check shared features as well as cost

Is storage shared or per person? Are histories separate? Does simultaneous access match headcount? Cost arithmetic cannot answer these. 'Lowest under entered conditions' is not 'best for this household'; compare capability separately before treating candidates as equivalent.

The screen compares fixed monthly and annual fees, not usage charges, setup costs, changing members or detailed trials. For contracts with other costs, do not finish the decision from this total alone. Start with two candidates and matching people and duration to identify remaining questions.
